Sporting clays is a clay target shotgun game. Sporting clays is the closest thing to actual field shooting of all shotgun sports. Rather than having clay birds thrown from standardized distances and angles as with skeet or trap, sporting clays courses are designed to simulate the hunting of ducks, pheasants, other upland birds, and even rabbits. Often described as "golf with a shotgun," because a typical course includes from 10 to 15 different shooting stations laid out over natural terrain.
Is sporting clays safe?
Shooting sports is actually the SAFEST SPORT IN THE UNITED STATES! Because there are safety rules that every participant must follow or they will be asked to leave, it makes the sport safe and enjoyable for people of all ages.
What do I need to participate in Emi’s Color Shoot?
Whether you intend to shoot or not, you must have eye and ear protection to be on the shooting course. Sunglasses with shatterproof lenses are sufficient eye protection and foam ear plugs are very common. We also require that you please wear close toed shoes. You will need to bring a shotgun capable of firing two shots. The shotgun can be any gauge you prefer, but please bring the proper ammunition for that firearm. Ammunition must be #7 shot size or smaller and you will need at least 100 shells. A shell belt or vest is recommended to carry your ammunition. You may also bring a golf cart or ATV/UTV to get around the course. There is some travel from the clubhouse to the course and throughout the course.
Will golf carts or ATV/UTVs be available at the shoot?
There will be a limited number of golf carts available for rent. You must let us know on your shooter entry if you would like to reserve a golf cart for the day. Please reserve your golf cart by filling out the appropriate form on this page.
How many people can be on a team?
There are four shooters on each team. If you do not have a team, you may shoot individually or we can squad you with other individual shooters for a team of four.

That's OK! This event is for people to get together and enjoy a day of shooting sporting clays and supporting a great place for kids! If you are inexperienced and would like some help, Emi's Color Shoot has volunteers available to “coach” you throughout the course. These volunteers have trained and coached many shooters and will do their best to make this a positive shooting experience; one that will make you want to come back again! However, if you choose not to shoot, there are plenty of other activities to participate in.
How old do I have to be to shoot?
You can be any age to shoot as long as you can safely handle your firearm. However, if you are under the age of 18, you must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
